Dodson Easement Phase 2

Dodson Easement Phase 2

Dodson Easement Phase 2

Jackson Township, Perry County

The Dodson family has donated a second conservation easement on a forested parcel located very near the woodlands that they protected in 2006!  Dedicated to the protection of healthy forests for wildlife and sustainable forestry, the Dodson’s have exemplified their commitment to conservation through the preservation of this land.  Located on the ridge that is adjacent to Tuscarora Ridge, this land provides habitat for wildlife that utilize the Kittatinny Ridge Corridor as an international bird migratory route.

As true stewards of their land, the Dodson’s decided to amend their first easement to include even stronger protection of the water resources on their property.  By designating a 100 foot buffer along the banks of the wild native brook trout stream, the wetlands and stream channel are now protected from disturbance and contribute significantly to the health of Sherman Creek, the Susquehanna River, and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay.
