ReVisionPA
The Central Pennsylvania Conservancy has packaged our educational outreach efforts into a new initiative called RevisionPA www.ReVisionPA.org It has a fingerprint because we are all responsible for land use decisions in our community. For those that don't take action, they still affect change.
Many times you will hear Supervisors exclaim, "That's not what I thought that area would look like." Yet with all the planning resources and manuals available it is difficult to "vision" the impact land use decisions will have on a community. CPC's RevisionPA offers that service. We take a look at current zoning and proposed zoning, along with ordinances and "visualize" the impact for municipal officials and residents. Additionally we hold workshops to help stakeholders understand how to provide for growth and protect their natural resources. We compliment all of this with hands-on, feet in the stream, boots on the trail learning opportunities. It's a great way to understand how groundwater recharge works and what stormwater runoff is when you can stand in a forest and test infiltration and than try it again on your lawn and on a driveway.
In August 2009 CPC's President, Harold Stoneberger and Executive Director, Debbie Bowman presented Monroe Township Supervisors with a presentation and visioning exercise on the township's Conservation Zone. This document provides an overview of the impact on water, sewer and air quality based upon 1 acre, 2 acre and 10 acres. The build-out represents less than 40 years according to their comprehensive plan.
The Central Pennsylvania Conservancy is working with foundations and other supporting organizations to help fund this project so municipalities can be provided this service.
